Ca’ Foscari is looking for a researcher in the area of Musicology and History of Music, capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world.

The assistant professor will carry out research while having to take into account the whole theoretical debate in the musicological field - from philology (critical editions, etc.) to cultural studies (gender), from historiographical problems to questions of language (the whole analytical methodologies for hermeneutic purposes) - will mainly concern the 'social' history of opera and instrumental music in the 19th-21st centuries, in the field of musical production systems, between private and public, up to the present day. In this context, it will be even more necessary than usual to know how to move across vast horizons, both European and non-European: this attitude must also emerge from the publications presented for selection.

Teaching tasks: at least 60 hours of teaching commitment consistent with the contents Musicology and Music History, possibly also in English, in the three-year degree, master's and doctoral courses. The researcher will be able to hold courses of History of musical instruments, History of medieval and Renaissance music, History of musical production systems, Music theory, Music Production.

This position is at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, whose aim is to provide students with the knowledge to develop those interpretive, critical, analytical and communication skills that are necessary to understand and navigate the complexities of life in the 21st century.
