The University of Florida College of Pharmacy, currently ranked among the top 5 schools of pharmacy in the US, consists of two clinical departments (Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy; Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research) and three basic science departments (Medicinal Chemistry; Pharmaceutics; and Pharmacodynamics). Guangrong Zheng, Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, is looking for a highly motivated early career investigator with research experience in drug design and discovery to join him as a Research Assistant Professor. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team of investigators with expertise in bioinformatics, computer-aided drug design, organic synthesis, assay development, proteomics, molecular and cellular biology, and biophysics. Our goal is to develop innovative therapeutic agents for cancer and age-related diseases.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experiences in small-molecule drug discovery, chemical biology, and a keen interest in using a research-track faculty position as a resource to not only strengthen drug development and discovery at the University of Florida, but also launch an independent research career. Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and creativity are essential. Applicants interested in advancing teaching skills will have that opportunity. In addition to substantial research infrastructure and financial support, the salary for this position will be highly competitive according to the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Minimum: PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline; 5 or more years of experience in a drug discovery and development environment

Preferred: Drug discovery experience in an industry setting; Strong written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills; a demonstrated record of research creativity in drug discovery; a strong desire and ability to work cooperatively with others in a multidisciplinary environment
