Description
The Department of Special Education has part-time adjunct instructor positions available for the Fall and Spring semesters. Instructors are needed to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Deaf Education, American Sign Language, and Deaf Studies. Both on campus and online courses are available.
Please note that applications will remain active until November 20, 2021. Therefore, if you apply for this position, you may not hear from the Department of Special Education until there is a need to hire an instructor to teach a specific course.
Minimum Qualifications
For adjuncts teaching undergraduate courses in Deaf education/Deaf studies, the minimum qualifications include a masters degree in Special education, Deaf education or closely related field from an accredited institution.
Adjuncts teaching graduate level courses must have a doctoral degree in Special Education, Deaf Education or closely related field from an accredited institution.
For adjuncts interested in teaching American Sign Language, the minimum qualifications are a masters degree in Teaching ASL, Deaf Studies/Deaf education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Adjunct faculty interested in teaching masters level research methods courses must have at least a doctoral degree in Special Education, Deaf Education, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
For adjuncts teaching courses in Deaf education/Deaf studies, the preferred qualifications are 2 years teaching to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
For adjuncts teaching courses in American Sign Language, the preferred qualifications are 2 years of teaching American Sign Language.
