Position Summary

The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking an Endowed Chair with an appointment as a clinical-track (qualified rank) full-time, 12-month faculty member at the associate or full professor level. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member who is interested in establishing a practice/teaching site and research program focusing on the treatment of rare genetic diseases and metabolic disorders in the Division of Genetics within the UB Department of Pediatrics.

The ideal candidate will be a pharmacist who is passionate about advancing the treatment of children and adolescents afflicted with rare genetic diseases and metabolic disorders and engaging in teaching and research relating to this area. The successful candidate will establish a clinical pharmacy service, engage in the teaching of pharmacy and other health-professions students and postgraduates, develop a collaborative research program, and provide service to the Department of Pharmacy Practice and School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences ( SPPS ).

Responsibilities to include:

Didactic and experiential teaching activities:
The faculty member will provide didactic teaching in required and elective courses as agreed to with the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice; coordinate courses in the PharmD Program; and, participate in curriculum planning and assessment.

Scholarship:
The faculty member will develop a collaborative research program focusing on rare genetic diseases and metabolic disorders. The Division of Genetics within the Department of Pediatrics has invested considerable resources into advancing our impact in this area of practice.

Service:
The faculty member will serve the Department, School, and University (e.g., through active participation on committees) as agreed to with the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Active involvement in professional organizations is strongly encouraged.

UB is the top-ranked public university in New York State, and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at UB ( SPPS ) is ranked #14 nationally and #1 in New York State. The SPPS was founded in 1886, is the second-oldest component of UB, and is the only fully accredited pharmacy school in the State University of New York ( SUNY ) system. The mission of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at UB is to serve the global community through leadership in research, clinical care and teaching of the practice of pharmacy. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications include: a Doctor of Pharmacy degree; a minimum of one year of postdoctoral training; and at least 5 years of experience in academia with demonstrated experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research.

Candidates with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree must be licensed, or eligible for licensure in NY State.

Preferred Qualifications

Postgraduate Year 2 Pediatric Specialty Residency; BCPS or BCPPS certification.

Candidates must have a track record of research support and peer reviewed publications commensurate with appointment faculty rank.
