About the Opportunity:
The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a 12-month open rank clinical -track faculty appointment to begin in the Fall 2021 semester. Responsibilities include teaching, service and scholarship within the field of physical therapy. The teaching responsibilities for this position will be shared between cardiovascular/pulmonary, acute or complex medical care, and clinical education.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching, service, and scholarship in the field of physical therapy education in alignment with the department workload policy.

Qualifications:
Candidate must be a licensed physical therapist or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts by appointment start date. Candidates must have a minimum of two years teaching experience in physical therapy education by appointment start date. A record of scholarly activity as defined by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapist Education (CAPTE) is required by appointment start date. Candidates will demonstrate the ability to work as part of a collaborative team in educational delivery, service, and scholarship.

Additionally, qualified candidates will either: 1) Possess an Academic Doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD) and PT degree or 2) Possess an earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and demonstrated clinical excellence in a clinical specialization within any area designated by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and be currently enrolled in an academic doctorate program at an accredited institution by appointment start date.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference for candidates who are physical therapists with Academic Doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD) with expertise in cardiovascular/pulmonary or complex medical care, or clinical education and established independent record of scholarship.

Additional Information:
The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences, located within Bouve College of Health Sciences, is comprised of 30 faculty, some with joint or affiliated appointments in other colleges. The Department offers one of the oldest and largest Doctor of Physical therapy programs in the country with a hallmark experiential cooperative education program, a Ph.D. program in Human Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences, an ABPTFRE Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program and a transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy in collaboration with College of Professional studies. The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences is successfully and rapidly building and strengthening its educational offerings and research program, in parallel with the exciting growth occurring across Northeastern University.

The Department is Housed within the School of Clinical and Rehabilitation Sciences created in 2020 within the Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University. This school brings together the clinical fields of physical therapy, speech and language pathology, and physicians' assistants with the multiple disciplines of rehabilitation sciences including epidemiology, neuroscience, engineering, physiology, exercise science, design, and communication. Based on the Northeastern University's 2025 Plan the new School is building a diverse and inclusive network for creating new knowledge (research) and education. These networks allow for more agile and innovative discoveries.
