Assistant Professor of Religion – Contemporary Islam

The Department of Philosophy & Religion at the University of Evansville invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Religion. As a small department with a diverse curriculum, we are seeking candidates with the ability to teach a breadth of undergraduate courses within the religion program, especially courses incorporating contemporary Islam in North America. The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated interest in research and teaching that includes the study of religion, religious diversity in America, religion and the public sphere, and lived religion.

Candidates should have an active scholarly agenda and strong interests in teaching at a four-year, private undergraduate university. Start date is August 1, 2018. Ph.D. by time of appointment required.

A complete application will include cover letter, CV, teaching portfolio (including statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi and teaching evaluations, if available), writing sample, transcripts (unofficial accepted), and three letters of recommendation.
