The School of Creativity + Practice at Colorado State University Pueblo exists to enrich the lives of our students and the community through exposure to creative industries across multiple disciplines in an environment of integrated studies.
   The School of Creativity + Practice focuses the combined efforts of three CSU Pueblo Departments creating a unique framework of integrated experiences aimed to enrich the individual study of all students regardless of discipline.

We recognize that creative industry careers involve a variety of skills that extend beyond any one discipline and so the Departments of Art & Creative Media, Music and Media Communication have come together to develop a series of courses and events that  form the  foundation of the School of Creativity + Practice ( SoCaP ).  Students experience the academic rigor of their chosen pathway, earning degrees from their home departments while gaining valuable exposure to the integrated structure of creative industries.

SoCaP is a place where collaboration and creativity meet intensive study and individual emphasis. We empower our students to move beyond the classroom and studio toward professional exhibitions, collaborative performances and dynamic presentations. Developing students into a community of highly skilled creative professionals is our mission, our vision and our passion.

 

 Description of Job:
**All responsibilities of faculty members at CSU Pueblo are in accordance with the Faculty Handbook.  The Faculty Handbook is the authoritative guide on specific requirements with regard to teaching assignments, scholarly activity, research, and service.

Serves one or more of the SoCaP departments (Art & Creative Media, Media Communication, and Music) through excellence in teaching, and provide leadership in the development of integrated studies among all SoCaP departments.

Primary Duties

Teaching:   
  • We are seeking a creative professional whose areas of practice have prepared them to teach undergraduate coursework that supports both the Department of Art & Creative Media (0.5)  and the Department of Media Communication (0.5). Teaching may include courses in Graphic Design, Interactive Media, UI/ UX, Advertising and Promotional Communication as well as Social/Digital Media, Mobile Communication and Foundation Design Frameworks.


Scholarly & Creative Activities: 
  • Maintains a developing record of research commensurate with the level of Assistant Professor, and a clear indication of the potential to achieve national and international recognized standards of excellence.
Service:To include but not limited to:
  • Schedules office hours to meet advising responsibilities.
  •  Advises students with regard to performance in classes. 
  • Assists students in setting academic goals and maintaining a record of advisement.
  • Provides referrals to appropriate student services.
  • Attends and takes part in meetings of the associated Departments, College, and University.
  • Serves if elected or appointed with their consent to University boards or estate committees.
  • Recruitment of Prospective Students.
  •  Academic Community Cooperation.
  • Board and Committee Membership.
  • Meetings and University Functions.
  • Attendance at Commencement.

 

 Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights: Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Fine Arts M.F.A.  (Appropriate M.M. or PhD if the position’s primary teaching is connected to the department of Music.)
  • Capable of delivering educational instruction using current / relevant Professional Creative Industry Software.
  • Demonstrate an ability to mentor students in an applied range of Creative Industry sectors.
