OPEN RANK FACULTY POSITION – CLINICAL NUTRITION FACULTY

At a time when public health has never been more important, the College of Public Health at Temple University is working to solve health complexities for a better tomorrow. As one of the largest colleges of public health in the country, we are home to faculty who specialize in 17 health-related disciplines to prepare researchers, practitioners and educators to collaborate across disciplines to understand community needs, create evidence-based solutions, and deliver effective, compassionate care. We seek applications for an open rank, non-tenure track faculty position to serve in a leadership role for our new MPH in Nutrition/RDN program beginning in fall 2021.

 

The MPH in Nutrition/RDN Program. Temple University has been selected by the Accreditation Council on Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) to serve as a Demonstration Program for the Future Education Model. Beginning in fall 2021, the MPH in Nutrition/RDN program will provide students integrated didactic and experiential learning in in clinical, food service, and public health nutrition.  We seek an innovative educator to help develop our program and train the next generation of Public Health Nutritionists.

 

Qualifications. We seek an individual with experience and expertise in clinical nutrition to be an integral part of our new MPH in Nutrition/RDN program. We welcome applicants with recent clinical experience who can apply their expertise integrating ACEND’s new competency-based educational model in our curriculum, teach clinically focused graduate courses and collaborate with clinical preceptors. Required qualifications include being a registered dietitian nutritionist, holding a minimum of a master’s degree in a nutrition-related field, and clinical dietetics practice experience in a hospital setting. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience in higher education, academic leadership including overseeing clinical/field placements and developing curriculum, public health training, experience working with diverse populations, and a PhD in a nutrition-related field. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. The College of Public Health. The College is embarking on an exciting period of expansion in developing several nutrition-related academic programs and recruiting energetic and innovative faculty seeking to make an impact through their work. We recently developed a highly successful undergraduate minor in nutrition that has rapidly grown over three years. Future programs and research initiatives will focus on the intersection of nutrition, obesity, and chronic disease prevention with social determinants of health.

 

Devoted to an interprofessional environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health, a CEPH-accredited school of public health, is a constellation of academic units of public health, social work and health profession disciplines with an enrollment of approximately 4,200 students. The College’s research focuses on social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, medical/health interventions, and basic science and is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and other major funders. The College has a robust Office of Research to assist researchers, community outreach staff in the Center for Community Engaged Research and Practice, and a Center for Obesity Research and Education. Collectively, the College is harnessing the energy of our various disciplines in an innovative framework for interprofessional education.

 

The University. Temple is an urban, research-intensive Carnegie R1 university located in historic and culturally rich Philadelphia, the 6th largest city in the nation.
