Early Childhood Education, Development, and Learning - Assistant/Associate Professor

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at Purdue University is searching for an Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in early childhood development, education, and learning (birth through 8 years).  The ideal candidate would have expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning and a programmatic line of research that is synergistic with existing faculty research in early learning, social, emotional, and/or regulatory development.  Research portfolios that include children/families from underrepresented groups are encouraged.  This is one of three open positions in the department. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies, psychology, early childhood or early elementary education, or an aligned area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, conducting, and publishing research, including procuring internal and external funding; teaching undergraduate courses in STEM-related content (i.e., Science in Preschool and Primary Grades) for the early childhood education and exceptional needs teaching licensure program and other undergraduate and graduate courses for the department; mentoring students; and engaging in service at the campus, community, state, and/or national level. We are seeking a faculty member with a strong research program that is capable of attracting external funding. 

Human Development and Family Studies (https://www.purdue.edu/hhs/hdfs/) is a multi-disciplinary department located in the College of Health and Human Sciences. The department affords many opportunities to develop interdisciplinary collaborative research. Research foci in the department include early learning, biological underpinnings of normative and non-normative development and health, family systems, advanced methodology, health & well-being, interpersonal relations, culture and diversity, and military families. HDFS maintains spacious and well-equipped research facilities and centers, including the Ben & Maxine Miller Child Development Laboratory School, the Center for Early Learning, the Center for Families, Cooperative Extension, and the Military Family Research Institute.
