Summary
The Research Coordinator II in the HIV Program, under the supervision of the Director of the HIV Program, will primarily be responsible for recruitment and follow-up of patients in multiple protocols.
Job Duties
- Conducting patient interviews to screen for study eligibility
- Confirming eligibility by detailed review of the clinical record
- Maintaining case report forms
- Responding promptly to any queries generated by the sponsor
- Performing venipunctures on HIV positive patients
- Processing blood and stool samples for collection and storage and preparing and sending samples to designated reference laboratories
- Submitting adverse events, updated investigator’s brochures, consent revisions and protocol amendments to the Baylor Affiliates Review Board and the VA R&D Committee
- Maintaining study logs and providing weekly enrollment updates to the Principal Investigator.
- Scheduling research appointments for study patients
- Performing procedures that are protocol specific
- If pertinent, keeping a petty cash log for multiple studies with appropriate documentation.
- Administering study-related questionnaires
- Screening patient calls for appropriate referral to the Principal Investigator and/or Primary Care Provider
- Maintaining Certification for Protection of Human Subjects
- Maintaining OSHA training in blood borne pathogens
- Maintaining Certification for Shipping of Hazardous Materials
- Maintaining Good Clinical Practice Training
- Attending protocol-related meetings, locally and nationally
- Maintaining a good working relationship with all investigators and study personnel
- Attending protocol-related meetings, locally and nationally
- Participating in sponsor generated conference calls
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Experience Required: One year of relevant experience.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
