The Bowdoin College Department of Art invites applications for a one-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in sculpture to start July 1, 2021. The position requires a strong grounding in three-dimensional studio processes and the ability to engage students through teaching methods that align with material process, value an iterative approach to studio practice, and provide a foundation in perceptual, formal, and critical skills.
The teaching load for this position is two courses per semester. Candidates must have a MFA with two-years full-time teaching experience in higher education or equivalent and a demonstrated record of professional artistic achievement. Successful candidates will be able to articulate the significance of the visual arts within the liberal arts curriculum and have a desire to contribute to the life of a small, collaborative department.
