Position Summary:

The School Mental Health Training Specialist is a dynamic position that will work in conjunction with the School Supplement Coordinator for the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies (CHESS). This program focuses on mental health work in schools. In collaboration with other colleagues, the SMH Specialist develops and delivers training, consultation, coaching services as well as products and tools to increase the capacity of the school mental health workforce.

The SMH Training Specialist will be responsible for building and maintaining ongoing relationships with the field and partner organizations.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required in a related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Must have two or more years of professional experience in a mental health field. Clinical school mental health services experience and working in schools, districts, and school systems is preferred. Must have the ability to travel (after federal, state, and UW travel restrictions are lifted).

Must show demonstrated leadership, self-confidence, creativity, initiative, attention to detail and the ability to work independently to manage and coordinate a team-oriented environment. Incumbent must also have excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to skillfully train, communicate with, and build rapport individually and in groups with a wide range of stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs expected.

Strongly desired skills include:
-Strong ability to take personal initiative, work both independently and as a team member,
collaborate and coordinate with others
- Strong understanding of the school mental health landscape and evidence-based clinical
mental health approaches and practices in schools with school-based mental health partners
- Must be able to form strong connections and relationships, especially through virtual learning
platforms
- Experience with crises both in theory and in practice and be well versed in leadership approaches to school community transformation.
