Position Summary:

This position provides a wide variety of human resource activities for assigned departments in the areas of recruitment, payroll, training and general administrative support to the College of Letters & Science Human Resources Office. This position advises departmental representatives on rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the areas noted above to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing. Maintains personnel records and required documentation and assists with work unit operational policy development.
The College has approximately 90 departments, centers and support units. The College employs 1700 graduate assistants, 800 academic staff and limited employees, 350 university and university fixed term staff, 150 temporary employees, 175 employees-in-training and more than 500 student hourly appointments.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimally qualified applicant will have professional work experience in at least three of the following:
- Committing to fostering a respectful, effective, and collegial work environment through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
-Supporting HR/payroll in higher education environment
- Managing recruitments, hiring process, onboarding
- Managing and auditing payroll processes
- Administering multiple payroll cycles (e.g., monthly, bi-weekly, 9-month, 12-month)
-Providing customer service to diverse stakeholders in a decentralized organization
-Applying policies and procedures as they relate to Human Resources (e.g., recruitment; position description development; position management, I-9, criminal background checks)
- Applying policies and procedures as they relate to payroll (e.g. payroll deadlines, benefit enrollment, leave usage)
- Using a web-based Human Resources Information System to create and
manage appointments; or using a complex web-based IT system used to manage workflow and approval process
- Handling time-sensitive materials in a timely manner
