For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
  • A Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the AIO area (e.g., Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Operations Management, Management Science, etc.)
  • Record of teaching excellence in business analytics, information systems or supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Associate Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
  • For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:
  • A Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the AIO area (e.g., Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Operations Management, Management Science, etc.)
  • Established record of teaching excellence in business analytics, information systems or supply chain management, as well as experience directing doctoral students.
  • Sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Full Professor at research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.

    Position Overview

    The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for an Area Director of Analytics, Information Systems, and Operations Management (AIO) for the 2021-2022 academic year. The search is open at the Associate or Full Professor level. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant’s scholarly and teaching record. This is a full-time, 9-month, academic year, tenured appointment, to begin August 18, 2021. The position includes some summer administrative responsibilities that will provide summer salary.

    Director responsibilities include leading, administering, and coordinating activities within the area, and representing the area to the school and university. The director has decision making authority over the area budget, participates in all faculty hiring, evaluations and salary decisions, is responsible for coordinating curricula and faculty development within the area, and communicates area accomplishments, needs, and opportunities. Associate or Full Professor responsibilities include teaching two courses each year, mentoring junior faculty and students, and maintaining a limited research agenda. This position reports directly to the Executive Associate Dean, and indirectly to the Dean.
