Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to provide oversight of the research initiatives within the Division of Pulmonology, Department of Pediatrics. This position will design and oversee complex research techniques, gene editing, and working with animals; develop collaborative relationships between industry, research institutes, hospitals and academia; provide
oversight of training all fellows, medical students, and undergraduates related to lab safety and techniques; writing and submitting applications for sponsor funding. The incumbent in this position is expected to remain an expert in their field by research by attending conferences and reading relevant scientific literature.

Minimum Hiring Standards

• Expertise in differentiated airway culture techniques;
• Expertise with PCR, ELISA, IHC, gene analysis and editing, gel electrophoresis;
• Expertise with midsize animal research (rabbits, ferrets) including IACUC submissions;
• Expertise in clinical trials, IRB submission, monitoring and secure data collection;
• Knowledge in data analysis including statistics;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Knowledge and familiarity with respiratory devices.

Ability to work in a diverse environment required.

Preferred Hiring Standards

MS or PhD in science related field.
2 – 3 years experience at the bench and in a wet lab with animal work.
