Position Summary
The State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking a BC/BE, full-time, academic Child Abuse Physician in the Division of General Pediatrics. The Child Abuse Physician will become the Medical Director at the Child Advocacy Center ( CAC ) in Buffalo, NY, and provide medical evaluations of suspected child abuse victims at the CAC . The physician will also provide child abuse consultations in Oishei Children’s Hospital ( OCH ). Care is provided in conjunction with academic teaching duties for medical students and residents from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Job duties include multidisciplinary team collaboration with the child abuse team at the CAC, the pediatric trauma team at OCH, and community agencies working to manage and prevent child abuse and neglect. Designated time for educational or research scholarship may be available for qualified candidates. Successful candidates will be granted a University appointment at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Pediatrics commensurate with experience.
The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences opened its new facility in the downtown medical corridor in 2018. It joined the Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo ( OCH ) that opened in November of 2017. OCH is a 185 bed free-standing children’s hospital, the only one in the state of New York. In conjunction with University Physicians, OCH provides comprehensive medical care to the population of Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania. OCH was named a Top Children’s Hospital by the Leap Frog group in 2018 and 2019, ranking it among top 6% of hospitals nationally.
