Position Summary:
The Public Services Assistant, Evening and Weekend, is a full-time classified staff position with responsibilities in Access Services and Interlibrary Loan. Responsibilities of this position include: providing in-person library staff coverage for evening and weekend hours at the library's circulation desk; providing customer service to library users; processing RapidILL borrowing and lending requests; supporting resource sharing processes; processing digitization requests; and other duties as assigned.
This position, in cooperation with the student coordinator and the overnight supervisor, works cooperatively to staff the circulation desk in the library with support from student employees. General schedule is 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday to Thursday during the academic year, shifting to regular business hours during the summer. Some flexibility is required as hours may vary if desk coverage is required, if library hours change, or if other staffing needs arise.
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using integrated library systems such as Alma.
- Experience using interlibrary loan and resource sharing processing tools such as ILLiad, RapidILL, DocLine, OCLC WorldCat Resource Sharing, and Alma Resource Sharing.
- Experience providing library public services in an academic or university environment.
- Experience working with diverse communities or experience in creating inclusive environments.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to lift and/or otherwise move 25 lbs and work in an environment that may contain dust/mold.
