Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented record of excellence in teaching and scholarship and a specialization in Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines.

Responsibilities: The position comes with a yearly course load of six classes (three in the fall semester and three in the spring). Teaching assignments will include first-year composition and writing in the sciences. Candidates should highlight any secondary areas of expertise. Additional duties will include academic advising along with departmental and university service.

Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor. This position is eligible for tenure. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

The Program: The English Program, in the College of Arts and Sciences, consists of five full-time faculty.

The Department: The Department of English, Modern Languages, and Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences includes majors in English and Writing as well as Spanish, and minors in French and Philosophy.

The College: The College of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments - Communication and Sociology; Computational and Physical Sciences (chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, software engineering); Education; English, Modern Languages and Philosophy; History, Political Sciences and Religious Studies; Life Sciences (animal behavior, biology, environmental science, psychology); and Visual and Performing Arts.

Carroll University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive institution grounded in the liberal arts tradition. The Pioneer Core general education curriculum has a strong emphasis on developing intercultural awareness. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves approximately 3000 full-time and 500 part-time students.
