Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Administration

Penn State Shenango invites applications for a faculty position Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Administration, Tenure-Track, 36 weeks, beginning August 2021 or as negotiated.

Responsibilities: Teaching each semester introductory and advanced-level courses in the Health Policy and Administration program, using traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods. Courses that include a focus in Public Health Administration, Population Health, Epidemiology, and Comparative Health Systems. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed. Publish in refereed journals. Participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities.

This position is one of four which will deliver a regional baccalaureate program in Health Policy and Administration. This program will be offered jointly by five Penn State campuses in western and eastern Pennsylvania: Penn State Shenango, Penn State Beaver, Penn State Hazleton, Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Lehigh Valley. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty at the other campuses to deliver a portion of the curriculum to multiple campuses using a variety of distance delivery methods. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Health Policy Administration or healthcare-related field with a focus on Public Health; ABD will be considered if significant evidence of completion by August 2021 can be provided. Evidence of potential in research and publication and a commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience required. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

Penn State Shenango is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses state-wide as an integral part of the University. Shenango`s 14 acre-campus is located in downtown Sharon in picturesque Western Pennsylvania near the Ohio border. It is about one hour from Pittsburgh, ninety minutes from Cleveland, and twenty minutes from Youngstown, Ohio. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 500 students; about 60% are adult learners. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 6 baccalaureate degrees and 5 associate degrees. Students and faculty at Penn State Shenango have all the resources of a major research university at their disposal but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention. Our faculty members are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience to their students and are actively engaged in research. Our students receive a world-class education delivered in a small campus setting and have opportunities to participate in undergraduate research projects supervised by faculty members.
