Theatre and Gallery Manager (Arts Management 3)

Penn State Altoona invites applications for a standing full-time Theatre and Gallery Manager starting December 1, 2020. The Theatre and Gallery Manager provides enhanced direction to arts programming at Penn State Altoona and surrounding communities. The manager initiates and collaborates with faculty, staff and community for arts offering to the Penn State and Altoona audiences. The manager provides support for college and community programming, rentals, special exhibitions, facilities, scheduling, and marketing.

The manager assists in the scheduling and coordination of over 70 events annually in the Misciagna Family Center for the Performing Arts, including college administrative events, student projects, community arts and other non-profit programming. Working hours may include some evenings and weekends, determined by scheduled events and activities in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Specific duties include:
  • The curation and facilitation of 10+ visual arts exhibits
  • Coordination of campus theatre, dance and music events
  • Facilitation of additional academic and university sponsored performances/events
  • Participates in division programming and administrative functions
  • Coordinates building use, management and safety Committee participation not limited to: faculty searches, safety committees, gallery committee, division executive committee, and other college committees as deemed necessary


Typically requires 8+ years related experience, Bachelor's Degree or higher in Arts discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree preferred.

Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
