Open-Rank Tenure-Line Faculty, Management of Information Systems

 

The Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) area of the School of Business at George Mason University invites applications for two Open-Rank Tenure-Line Faculty positions in Management of Information Systems (MIS) beginning Fall 2021. These positions are full-time with benefits. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include conducting high quality research and teaching Management of Information Systems (MIS) courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The teaching load for this position is determined according to the School’s workload policy, which specifies an initial load of 3 courses/year for candidates with fresh PhDs and highly productive senior researchers. Additional responsibilities include service to the ISOM area, the School of Business, the University and the profession, such as student mentoring, committee, and interfacing with the business community.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in MIS or a closely related discipline; 
  • Doctoral candidates must provide clear evidence of expected completion of their degree prior to the start date;
  • Junior-level candidates will demonstrate strong potential for excellence in research and teaching in the MIS area;
  • Senior-level candidates will have a proven record of research, and evidence of teaching MIS courses at undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Senior-level candidates may be considered for a tenured appointment at Associate or Full-level, subject to school and university approval.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests align with those of the current MIS faculty.

 

ISOM Area:

The ISOM area consists of 16 OM and MIS tenure-track/tenured faculty members, and 13 term faculty members. They have published their research in top-tier business journals, and have won several college and university-level teaching awards. They also serve as members of editorial review boards of leading journals in their fields.
