The Department of Performing Arts at Weber State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in music, starting in July 2021, with a generous full benefits package including medical, dental, long-term disability, life insurance, TIAA/CREF retirement, tuition benefits, and wellness program with paid incentives.
Demonstrated excellence in directing wind and percussion ensembles; outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills; excellence in brass pedagogy; and ability to foster a positive learning environment for college and pre-college wind and percussion students.
The successful candidate will continue to pursue scholarly-creative activity, serve as a recruiter for the Department of Performing Arts and will work closely with the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Music Programs.

• Direct the Symphonic Band, the Wildcat Marching Band (in the Fall) and the Pep Band (in the Spring)
• Teach Brass Methods and other classes/applied lessons as determined by expertise and departmental need
• Engage in the normal duties of a full-time faculty member that encompasses collaboration and committee membership.
• Master’s degree with an emphasis in Music
• Experience directing a large ensemble
• Experience directing a marching band
• Experience teaching basic brass methods
• Documented success teaching at the college level
• Minimum of 2 years teaching at the college level
• Candidates with a specialization in Low Brass or French Horn preferred, but all candidates will be considered
• Demonstrated success in recruiting Wind and Percussion Students
• Accomplished artist-level performer on a wind instrument
• Evidence of successful collaborative projects
• Doctorate degree with an emphasis in Music

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
