Assistant Professor or Instructor of Teacher Education Educational Leadership

Job Description:
The Department of Teacher Education at Weber State University is seeking applicants for either a tenure-track assistant professor or a non-tenure instructor position in Teacher Education. The position will be filled based on department needs and candidate qualifications.


Job Duties:
Assistant Professor Responsibilities:
▪ Teach a full-time undergraduate and/or graduate teaching load of 12 hours per semester
▪ Participate in departmental, college, and university committees
▪ Participate in scholarly activities including publishing, presenting, and/or grant writing
▪ Render professional service to campus and community
▪ Interact positively with colleagues, students, and local school personnel
▪ Supervise students during field experience and student teaching
▪ Advise master’s students on Master of Education projects

Instructor Responsibilities:
▪ Teach a full-time undergraduate and/or graduate teaching load of 15 hours per semester
▪ Participate in departmental, college, and university committees
▪ Render professional service to campus and community
▪ Interact positively with colleagues, students, and local school personnel
▪ Supervise students during field experience and student teaching
▪ Advise master’s students on Master of Education projects


Required Qualifications:
Specific requirements for the Assistant Professor position:
▪ Earned doctorate in education or closely-related field by September 1, 2021
▪ At least 3 years higher education administration experience or equivalent;
or
▪ At least 3 years K-12 experience in public or accredited private schools or equivalent

Specific requirements for the Instructor position:
▪ Earned master’s degree in education or closely related field by September 1, 2021
▪ At least 3 years higher education administration experience or equivalent;
or
▪ At least 3 years K-12 experience in public or accredited private schools or equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Criteria for Assistant Professor:
Experience
▪ Skills/experience in higher education leadership as an administrator or other significant leadership role, or experience as a faculty member in higher education administration or closely related discipline
▪ Ability to model current, best teaching theory, and practice
▪ Knowledge of higher ed best practices and administration of student affairs and services
▪ Evidence of strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice in education
▪ Experience working with and teaching students from diverse and/or underrepresented backgrounds
▪ Field-based supervision/mentor experience
▪ Evidence of scholarly writing (e.g. research, grant writing)
▪ Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others
▪ Clear research agenda
▪ Experience teaching online/virtual

OR
▪ Skills/experience in educational leadership as K-12 leader (Superintendent, Principal, Instructional coach, teacher leader) or experience as a faculty member in teacher education or closely related discipline
▪ Ability to model current, best teaching theory, and practice
▪ Knowledge of best practices in comprehensive school plans including trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning practices in K-12 contexts
▪ Evidence of strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice in education
▪ Experience working with and teaching students from diverse and/or underrepresented backgrounds
▪ Field-based supervision/mentor experience
▪ Evidence of scholarly writing (e.g. research, grant writing)
▪ Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others
▪ Clear research agenda
▪ Experience teaching online/virtual
