Pediatric Rheumatologist - Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (67171)
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is seeking an applicant to fill a full-time position as a Pediatric Rheumatologist. The position is at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor with a strong emphasis on clinical and educational activities.
Major responsibilities for this position will include providing coordinated medical care for newborns, children and adolescents with complex pediatric rheumatologic disorders in an outpatient Pediatric Multispecialty Center, inpatient admissions and consultations, day-Hospital management, and participate in shared night and weekend call.
The current Pediatric Nephrology/Rheumatology staff includes a board certified Pediatric Nephrologist with extensive experience of Rheumatology. The Pediatric Multispecialty Center includes the following pediatric sub-specialties: nephrology, genetics, infectious diseases, neurology, pediatric medically complex patients, pediatric weight management and pediatric rehabilitation services.
Inpatient services are provided at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, a 216 bed free standing dedicated children’s hospital located in downtown Jacksonville. Annually, over 80,000 patient visits to hospital, over 11,000 surgeries, about 12,000 children hospitalized and over 70,000 visits to the area’s only Children’s Emergency Center.

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three colleges at the Health Science Center Jacksonville. The college is affiliated with UF Health in Jacksonville, a health system comprised of two hospitals — the 603-bed UF Health Jacksonville and 92-bed UF Health North — and more than 60 primary and specialty care practices throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 440 faculty members, 1,560 staff and 384 residents and fellows, as well as medical students from UF and around the country. The college offers 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 non-standard programs. More than 100 residents and fellows from programs across the U.S. come to UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville to participate in various clinical rotations as well.
In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville. Third-year medical students enrolled at UF spend about 25 percent of their training at the Jacksonville campus, gaining valuable experience in an urban setting. While third-year rotations are only offered to UF students, elective rotations in the final year of clinical training are available to students from accredited schools in the US and Canada.
For practicing physicians, the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields.
The college's faculty, residents and fellows are active in clinical research. Residents and fellows regularly present their findings at locations across the country and publish their projects in well-known publications. In 2019, the campus received $23.1 million in external research funding, approximately 50% of which was federally sponsored projects.
The campus houses a 16,000-square-foot clinical and translational research facility. To support faculty and resident research, the college has a Center for Data Solutions, offering researchers analytics, epidemiology and biostatistics support, and a Center for Research Training, helping develop the next generation of highly collaborative clinical researchers.

Applicants must possess an MD/DO degree, Florida Medical License eligibility and be a BE/BC in Pediatric Rheumatology.
