About the Doha Institute:

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) seeks applications for a Social Psychology faculty position for its Master of Science Program in Psychology. We are seeking distinguished candidates working in any topic area or specialization within social psychology.

Founded in Doha, Qatar, the DI is a non-profit and independent institute that responds to the needs of the Arab region by integrating graduate teaching and learning with scientific research in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration and Development Economics. It offers highly competitive compensation and benefits packages.

The mission of the Psychology program is to train academics and equip students with a strong research foundation and the professional skills necessary to understand human behavior and to apply new knowledge, tools, and research to the solution of individual, societal, and organizational problems, particularly in Qatar and the Arab region. It also seeks to raise the level and quality of Arab scholarly contributions to the field of psychology and to prepare graduates for the unique challenges associated with today’s increasingly global, diverse, and shifting societies.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have (1) earned a Ph.D. in social psychology, (2) the capacity to teach and supervise at the graduate level, (3) published scholarly work in refereed peer-reviewed journals commensurate with his/her academic rank, and (4) a demonstrated ability to conduct research and offer practical interventions in diverse communities. Preference will be given to those who have a good command of the Arabic language and a strong interest in research and practice in the Arab world.


Responsibilities:

The successful applicant should be able to teach in a minimum of two core areas: stereotyping and prejudice, organizational psychology, and social change, research, and statistics, as well as more specialized courses in their area of focus. In addition to research and teaching, the position includes supervision of students’ thesis projects. Faculty are also expected to serve on committees at the program and institute level, and to contribute to the interdisciplinary scholarly community of the DI.
