Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU School of Pharmacy’s Office of Experiential Education ( OEE ) enthusiastically seeks a candidate for our Office Manager opening. The Office of Experiential Education strives for excellence in all endeavors, keeping uppermost in mind the importance of the highest quality service to students, faculty, community partners, and friends of the University. Guided by VCU School of Pharmacy’s mission and reporting to Associate Dean of Experiential Education, the Office Manager will be responsible for providing high-level office administration support for OEE, while maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Liaison between the Office of Experiential Education internal and external customers
•Manage office communications: correspondence, complaints, and queries
•Manage office budget: invoice, payments, and reports
•Manage office operations: administrative support, travel, meetings, schedules, and supplies.
•Prioritizes multiple issues and uses sound judgement and professional discretion in accordance with knowledge of and in compliance with University and School policies, procedures, guidelines, etc.
•Exercises initiative and independent judgment in managing the office’s daily operation
•Resolve office problems independently and facilitate solutions; confer with supervisor to resolve more complex situations.

Minimum Hiring Standards

•The School of Pharmacy supports a diverse faculty, staff and student environment. The candidate is required to show demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse environment
•3-5 years administrative and/or office management experience in a professional environment is required
•Excellent planning, organizational, and coordinating skills
•Exemplary customer service skills
•Demonstrated ability to anticipate and prioritize workload, anticipate and meet deadlines, and respond to changing priorities and workload fluctuations
•Demonstrated ability to work independently and resolves issues
•Demonstrated ability and organizational skills to coordinate multiple projects independently and with minimal guidance from manager
•Ability to exercise critical thinking and independent judgment in accordance with program, university, state, and federal policies
•Ability to interact effectively with all levels of both internal and external customers
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Positive attitude and a demonstrated track record of working collegially with others

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, and/or Public Administration
•Previous higher education experience
