Adjunct Faculty Liaison for Field Education

Lourdes University and Saint Louis University (SLU) have partnered to offer students an innovative Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The hybrid graduate program prepares students to be advanced practitioners and agents of change who promote individual and societal wellbeing.

Lourdes University invites applicants for the position of Adjunct Faculty Liaison for Field Education. This position will reside on the campus of Lourdes University.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the liaison between the School of Social Work and the social work practice community
  • Assist the student in the integration of social work theory and practice
  • Assist site and field instructors to structure and maximize student learning experiences
  • Assist the student in maximizing the learning experience in practice by:
  • Advocating for the quality of the learning experience
  • Ensuring the inclusion of the social work perspective
  • Working in partnership with the field instructor to assist the student in the integration of social work values and ethics
  • Creating and maintaining an active, responsive relationships with current and potential practicum sites in the community

Duties include:

  • Orient and plan practicum with assigned students

· Identify and develop practicum site

· Collaborate with field instructors on the planning of students’ practicum experience;

· Coordinate documentation with approved sites/agencies, in conjunction with Office of Field Education

· Plan and implement practicum events (e.g. orientation for students and field instructor training as part of the collaborative certification process);

  • Approve placement of students at practicum sites
  • Maintain Blackboard pages for both practicum and seminar courses
  • Coordinate, review, and approve student documentation, including learning agreements and logs of hours
  • Conduct place-of-employment planning site visit
  • Conduct a minimum of one site visit per student each semester
  • Problem solve as needed with students and/or field instructors
  • Review field instructor evaluation of student and submit grade
  • Facilitate one section of Integrative Seminar (one credit course for students in foundation or first concentration practicum) per semester, as needed by enrollment
  • Work with the Director of Field Education and Office of Field Education to facilitate the field experience at partner location
  • Maintain relationships with field education social work community


  • MSW required
  • At least 2 years practice experience
