Position Summary

A successful candidate for this position requires qualitative research knowledge, excellent writing skills, taking initiative, proven experience collaborating across disciplines, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

This position is one year in duration and will focus on undergraduate engineering education, especially as it pertains to developing the problem solving skills of undergraduates in the context of professional formation. Work will focus on engineering problem typology (i.e. framing engineering as explicit problem types) as a framework for
• investigating the evolution of students’ problem solving skills across the curriculum.
• exploring the negotiation of “good” problem solving between students, instructors, and practitioners.
• Creating tools that support development of “open” problems and associated assessment.
• The candidate will also be expected to support research based on the experiential learning program, especially as it pertains to student learning and motivation in co-curricular settings.
• Candidate will also be expected to support engagement with internal and external collaborators, publishing efforts, and proposal development.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in engineering education, computer science education, engineering or computer science with research in education, STEM education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one degree in engineering or engineering science preferred, with demonstrated experience in education, engineering education, or design education.
