Job Summary

The videographer/photographer is responsible for creation, implementation and maintenance of all photo and video assets for the university. This position is responsible for operating video and camera equipment and standard editing software to capture special events, as well as documenting campus and providing original creative assets for marketing and communications materials.

Job Responsibilities

  • Schedules, coordinates and provides campus-wide videography, photography and post-production editing services, for live events as well as small-scale video productions
  • Shoots video and takes photos for marketing campaigns and email and website promotions
  • Creates project schedules, selects locations and enlists talent
  • Oversees project lighting and sound
  • Provides related processing, studio and darkroom services
  • Makes content recommendations based on data/analysis
  • Maintains responsibility for organization, management and maintenance of university’s asset management system

  • Supports university-wide videography and photography needs

Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Coordinates and collaborates with outside vendors
  • Collaborates with other university constituents and media professionals in creative efforts
  • Engages collaboratively with university colleagues toward common goal of clear, consistent on-brand communication
  • Fosters positive communication with all constituents

Planning, Organizing and Accountability

  • Maintains project files and creative assets in university digital asset management system
  • Works closely with director of communications to maintain and plan content calendar

Initiative, Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Arranges for the repair and maintenance of supplies and equipment

  • Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum two years’ experience in videography/photography field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – May be representative, but not all inclusive, of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong creative skills
  • Maintains an awareness of best practices and current trends in videography and photography and integrates knowledge into project planning and execution
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly organized, motivated and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong professional integrity
  • Ability to plan ahead, think critically and solve problems independently
