Job Details
The Department of Spanish at Swarthmore College seeks applicants for a two-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish with a primary specialization in Spanish Early Modern literature and culture. Ability to offer courses in Latin American colonial studies is a plus.
Teaching load is 4 courses per year.
This position is outside the tenure stream and will begin in Fall 2021. The initial appointment will be made for a two-year period and will be renewable for one more two-year period based on performance. Benefits package and salary competitive.

QualificationsCandidates must hold a Ph.D. in Spanish by the time of appointment, at the beginning of the fall semester of 2021.
Essential qualifications include: strong commitment to undergraduate education; native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English; ability to teach language courses at all levels as well as courses pertaining to all genres of Early Modern Iberian literature and culture, and/or Latin American colonial studies; experience in teaching college students, and a lively classroom presence.
