Pediatric Cardiologist with Expertise in QM/QI

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a non-invasive pediatric cardiologist with expertise in general cardiology, quality management (QM) and quality improvement (QI). The physician will manage all aspects of acute cardiology care, bringing expertise as a consultant in the cardiac intensive care unit and other intensive and acute care units throughout the hospital.  Clinical activities will be carried out at Primary Children’s Hospital and at our outreach sites. Inpatient responsibilities include work in a newly opened Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), a 15-bed acute care cardiac unit, as well as consulting in other units throughout the hospital.  Academic productivity is expected and supported by the division including research, quality management/improvement work, teaching, and advocacy.

Qualified applicants must have expertise in the broad field of quality with specific skills in both QM and QI. He/she will be expected to develop and evaluate QI initiatives in a scholarly manner as an area of excellence, both individually and within the division partnering with other academic colleagues across the Department, School of Medicine and University to further develop his/her skills and expertise. The Division has a very active research program with strong infrastructure support, which will be available to the selected candidate.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology has been a core site of the Pediatric Heart Network of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since its inception, and participates in the NPC-QIC and all the major registries including PC4, PAC3, and IMPACT. In addition, the Division is a core site for the Scientific Focus Research Network of the American Heart Association (AHA). Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist within the Division, as well as throughout the Department, School of Medicine and University.

Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology, and must have additional experience in QM and QI.  An advance degree in Public Health, Health Care Management, or other relevant field is preferred.  The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic rank at the academic rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
