Program Assistant


Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for a Program Assistant in the HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies. This position reports to the HTC Honors College Administrative Coordinator and directly supports the Associate Dean and Director of Honors. Experience providing timely and efficient administrative support is needed to support the students, faculty, and staff in the HTC Honors College as our honors program continues to grow and innovate.


Duties include, but are not limited to: providing administrative staff assistance to the Director and to faculty in the college; overseeing and processing expenditures related to the Honors Program budget, including arranging travel for the Director, faculty, and honors students; coordinating all regular Honors Program and honors society events and activities, including occasional evening and weekend functions; coordinating Honors Program advising, and monitoring students’ mid-term and annual progress; assisting eligible Honors students in applying for internships and other academic scholarships; coordinating new student admissions events and the acceptance and scholarship notification process; maintaining Honors Program students’ records; maintaining and updating the Honors Program webpage and attending technology-training seminars as needed; maintaining communication with Honors Program students, alumni and faculty through e-mail (routine correspondence) and via print mail (occasional formal correspondence).


Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, related experience or equivalent education, training and experience are required. Successful candidate must be proficient in various software packages (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, web usage). Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required. Familiarity with the administrative structure of post-secondary educational institutions. The ability to establish effective communications and maintain productive working relationships with students, faculty, parents, the general public, as well as other administrative units.

SC State pay band: 04.  Primary work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University. Very limited evening and week-end hours are required to support Program activities and events.
