Professor (all ranks) in Macromolecular Materials and Manufacturing

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) at Arizona State University (ASU) and the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy seek applicants for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position, associated with programs in chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, or mechanical and aerospace engineering with emphasis in macromolecular engineering. The appointment will be at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate's experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2021. Although appointments may be in any of Fulton Engineering's six schools, the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy is currently most involved in sustainable macromolecular materials and processing.

Specific areas of expertise and interest include, but are not limited to, macromolecular processing, macromolecular additive manufacturing, biobased feedstocks and process development, metamaterials design and fabrication, advanced composites and hybrid systems, sustainable catalysis, polymer physics and soft matter, and computational tools to accelerate discovery of structure, property, and processing relationships of sustainable macromolecular materials.

We seek applicants who will contribute to our programs and will leverage investments by the university in promoting interdisciplinary teaching and research. The faculty member will align with the ASU Biodesign Institute and recently launched Center for Sustainable Macromolecular Materials and Manufacturing (BCSM3). University investments also include, among others, the Eyring Materials Center, John M. Cowley Center for High Resolution Electron Microscopy, Computing and Data Services, and the Goldwater Materials Science Facility.

Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, foster and contribute to inclusive work environment, and undertake service activities.

Required qualifications:
• Ph.D. in chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer science and engineering, or equivalent in an engineering field related to the stated research and teaching focus of this position by the time of appointment;
• Evidence of excellence in research, as appropriate to the candidate's rank; and
• Evidence of excellence in teaching, as appropriate to the candidate's rank

Desired qualifications:
• Commitment to multidisciplinary teaming and collaborative research;
• Publications in leading journals related to the applicant's field;
• Strong evidence of proposal construction and submission to diverse funding agencies;
• Demonstrated impact to diversity and inclusion for broadening participation in science and engineering;
• Evidence of successful implementation of student-centric teaching and engagement
