The Education Department at Presbyterian College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Special Education at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank beginning mid-August of 2021.  This is a nine-month, tenure-track position.

We are seeking candidates who will work collegially and effectively with faculty, students, staff, administrative colleagues, alumni, and professional communities served by the Presbyterian College Education Department. The successful candidate will:

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in general and special education areas
  • Prepare teacher candidates to effectively use evidence-based educational practices
  • Supervise practicum and student teaching experiences
  • Advise students about course schedules and licensure requirements
  • Support student recruitment efforts
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain the rigor of the program while incorporating continuous program improvement
  • Participate fully in program assessment and accreditation activities
  • Engage in scholarly activity
  • Provide service to the department, the college, the community and the profession, and
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualification: an acquired terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in special education, evidence of ability and commitment toward diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusion; evidence of excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a minimum of three years teaching experience in special education settings. Desired characteristics include teaching experience at the college/university level, evidence of scholarship through national presentations or publications, experience working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and experience with CAEP accreditation.

Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor – Higher Education Program/Generalist

Presbyterian College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor. This is a full-time, nine-month, faculty appointment starting in August 2021. About the Higher Education Program:

The Higher Education Program includes several majors in Elementary, Early Childhood, Middle, Secondary and Special Education. The PC Education Department prepares students for positions of leadership and teaching.

 The successful candidate will

  • Teach general undergraduate coursework;
  • Maintain an active role in recruiting;
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students;
  • Serve on departmental and college committees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must hold a doctoral degree in higher education or a related field to be completed by the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education;
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, including online teaching, through a critical lens;
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and advising students representing diverse backgrounds and career interests;
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches;
  • Previous experience with SPAs and program accreditation.
