Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology

The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) (www.uamont.edu) is seeking applicants for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology. 

Biology is part of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences which offers baccalaureate degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Natural Science as well as minors in these areas and in Physics.  The School also has pre-professional programs in medicine, pharmacy, allied health, and engineering.  The School has been very active in pre-service and in-service educational programs and has an excellent record of preparing students for professional and graduate schools.

UAM, one of the thirteen campuses of the University of Arkansas System, is located in southeastern Arkansas in the beautiful timberlands, rich in outdoor recreation activities, and approximately 100 miles south of Little Rock.  UAM is a comprehensive, residential and commuter, undergraduate institution also offering selected master’s degree programs. 

Responsibilities: Duties include teaching cell biology, lectures and labs in genetics and microbiology and other general education biology or upper level courses in the applicant’s field of interest. Dedicated research space is available, including a shared research laboratory equipped for genetics or molecular research. Non-teaching duties will include academic advising, committee work, and scholarly research involving undergraduate students. Summer teaching is an option; however, is not guaranteed.

Qualifications:  Candidates must have a doctorate in the biological sciences or related field. Post-doctoral research and teaching experience at the college level is preferred.

Salary:  Commensurate with experience and qualifications / excellent fringe benefits.
