Lecturer, Assistant or Associate Professor (Aviation Systems Management), Industrial Technology
Job Description or Duties:
The University of Nebraska at Kearney, Aviation Systems Management program, is searching for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, or Associate Professor. The planned start date is January 2021. The successful candidate will join a program having a strong history of service and developing aviation professionals in flight operations and aviation management. Teaching responsibilities will be based upon the strengths of the individual selected but may include one or more of the following areas: Aviation Safety, Aviation Law, Airport Management, Air Traffic Control, UAS/Airline/Corporate Operations, Human Factors, 14 CFR Part 141 Pilot Ground Schools, Advanced Aircraft Systems, Aerodynamics, and other courses as appropriate. An active and productive research / scholarship agenda is a requirement for candidates at the Assistant or Associate Professor Rank (tenure-track). Strong interest in service to the University and community as well as student advising/engagement is expected.
In addition to their teaching and research activities, the successful candidate will also assist the aviation program director with the following: • Program development • Assessment and accreditation • Coordination of student recruitment and retention • Development of aviation industry relations • Coordination of flight training vendor.
Master’s degree in a related field is required for a Lecturer (non-tenure track) position. (Individuals that are ABD or are Masters qualified and interested in a “Grow Your Own” program towards a Doctoral degree are encouraged to apply.) Applicants must have significant relevant aviation industry experience and a passion for teaching. FAA Advanced Ground Instructor/Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate.
PhD. or EdD. in a related field and experience in assessment / outcomes based accreditation.
