The Department of Modern Languages, Literature and Culture at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for two tenure-track positions starting August 2021: a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Spanish American Literatures and Cultures (specialists in South America particularly welcome to apply) and a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in US Latinx Literatures and Cultures.
The Modern Languages Department teaching load is 4-4. The department offers a full range of courses in the undergraduate day program attended by approximately 2,000 members of the Corps of Cadets. The availability of grants from The Citadel Foundation to support faculty research and presentation of research is an attractive feature of academic life at the college.
Located in beautiful and historic Charleston, S.C., The Citadel is a fully accredited, public, comprehensive, co-educational college with a student body of 2300 undergraduate and 1000 evening and graduate students. For the past ten years, U.S. News and World Report has ranked The Citadel as the top public college in the South among masters granting institutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment. Applicants should demonstrate native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English, an excellent teaching record, and show promise of scholarship. Responsibilities include teaching all undergraduate levels of Spanish language, literature, and culture.
