Associate VP for Grants, Sponsored Projects, and Research

The Office of the Provost welcomes applications for an Associate VP for Grants, Sponsored Projects, and Research. The Associate VP for Grants, Sponsored Projects and Research reports to the Provost/V.P. for Academic Affairs, The Associate Vice President for Grants, Sponsored Projects, and Research will coordinate grants, sponsored projects, and research activity across the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education ( PASSHE ) through Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, the Associate Vice President will work in coordination with the Provost and Associate Provost as well as any relevant Dean and other university personnel to ensure that all grant and contract proposals submitted by the university are in compliance with all relevant guideline and policies. This includes ensuring internal policies and procedures (University- and Office-level) exist and are effective in facilitating the development and submission of grant and contract proposals from across the University and throughout PASSHE .
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Earned Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in grant and contract administration.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience managing personnel with at least one year in an Office of Grants, Sponsored Projects, and Research.
- A record of effective administrative experience in higher education or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with developing effective partnerships within a University/System/Organization and with external groups such as granting agencies and foundations, regional businesses, other educational institutions, or other organizations.
- Demonstrated experience developing policies, procedures, and strategies to facilitate efficient and effective submission, administration, and/or funding of grant applications.
- Knowledge of electronic research administration programs and of federal procurement regulations.
- Experience with the successful administration of awards and their compliance with regulations (including IRB and IACUC processes).
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse university community.
- Experience with intellectual property protection.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under the pressure of deadlines while emphasizing excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills (listening skills, problem solving) in order to effectively interact with individuals within and outside the University.
- Successful interview, campus presentation, and three successful background checks.
- Experience in managing grants in a university, college, or System setting.
- Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
- Experience with assessment and accreditation.
- Membership in appropriate national associations and participation in relevant trainings, conferences, webinars, and other professional development activities.
- Additional training or education that may include Certified Research Administrator ( CRA ), MBA, JD, PhD, project management certification, or similar credential.
- Experience organizing and/or giving workshops on proposal writing, preparation, and other relevant topics.
