Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Work as psychologist in fast pace, high demand clinical setting with diverse student population focusing on clients presenting in acute distress. Diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and formulate treatment plans and interventions. Interact with clients to assist them in developing insight, defining goals, and planning actions to achieve effective personal, social, educational, or vocational development and adjustment. Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, or reference materials. Use various treatment methods including but not limited to psychotherapy and stress reduction therapy. brief individual therapy, couples counseling and group therapy. Counsel and support international students. May require working at least one evening per week.

Minimum Hiring Standards

PhD or foreign equivalent in clinical psychology, counseling psychology or related, and must be a licensed Clinical Psychologist or license-eligible in Virginia
