TheOffice of Marketing and Communicationat St. Catherine University invites applications for aDevelopment Writerposition. This is a full-time position which concludes December 2023. The Office of Marketing and Communications is housed in the Institutional Advancement (IA) division. Members of the Marketing and Communications team are storytellers who create engaging and dynamic communications that raise the profile and awareness of St. Catherine University. Members of this team serve as the voice of St. Kate’s, representing our diverse audiences, our commitment to social justice, and helping to achieve our organizational mission.

TheDevelopment Writeris a key member of the Marketing and Communications team and IA division, supporting the University’s ambitious fundraising goals, in the context of the comprehensive campaign – Lead and Influence, and playing a critical role in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all St. Kate’s supporters. This position develops engaging and thoughtful content for our alumni, donors, parents, foundations and other key constituents to keep them informed and engaged about the University and support philanthropic campaigns and outreach.

Responsibilities:


  • Work with Development and Alumni Relations team to identify needs and opportunities
  • Collaborate with other members of the Marketing and Communications team and subject matter experts from across campus to develop content, including campaign materials, solicitation materials (emails, social media, print pieces, etc), proposals, news stories, letters, fact sheets, newsletters, website copy, and other communications as needed. Key projects include:

    • Annual solicitations
    • Give to St. Kate’s Day
    • Give to Honor Her
    • Donor Tribute
    • Comprehensive campaign
    • Alumni and donor newsletter (At St. Catherine)
    • Donor proposals and prospectus pieces
  • Stay up to date on fundraising and higher education trends in order to align communications activities with current happenings.
  • Work collaboratively with Institutional Advancement team members to strategically integrate and align communications and marketing efforts.
  • Review and edit content from University partners and internal team
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and team leads to develop plans, implement strategies, and measure results
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:


  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related liberal arts degree
  • 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, media relations, public relations or journalism
  • Superior, AP-style writing and editing skills as demonstrated through writing samples
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, team management, and client management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize feedback from multiple stakeholders while maintaining creative resilience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suites

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:


  • Experience with relational databases, preferably RNL’s Engage, Quadangle, or ScaleFunder
  • Experience with development and fundraising preferred
  • Experience building and maintaining audience engagement via email
