TheSponsored Programs, Research & External Engagement (SPREE)department at St. Catherine University invites applications for aSponsored Programs Managerposition. This is a regular, full-time position.

OurSPREEdepartment advances the scholarship, programmatic, and strategic goals of the University by supporting research and grant seeking activities and overseeing all sponsored programs, with direct expenditures totaling over $30M annually. The department manages multi-year, complex federal and private grant budgets and implements the scope of work on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations. The Manager coordinates with the Director to oversee post-award processes for grants and contracts including compliance with funder, governmental, and University regulations, budget tracking and monitoring, and timely performance reporting.


  • Set-up grant programs for appropriate and proper stewardship.
  • Manage grants and contracts from award completion to scope, schedule and budget, monitoring award and project progress and compliance.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities including university partners, grant recipients, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the Business Office for fund set-up, expense management, invoicing/draw-down, and reporting.
  • Compile, analyze and interpret complex data in order to provide technical analysis, financial guidance and projections, and to produce documents and reports as needed
    Educate faculty and staff on managing applicable sponsored program budget and requirements.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, budgets, and employment agreements
  • Review and approve invoices, purchasing orders and other forms of procurement.
  • Manage the post-award administrative staff.
  • Manage post-award processes for grants and contracts including agreement oversight, change requests, budget reconciliation and performance reporting.
  • Partner with the Director to develop and update post-award policies, procedures, and business practices to adhere to university’s changing environment and the complex sponsored programs funding regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of accounting and/or post-award or grant management experience
  • Experience managing multiple projects on time, within budget and with strong attention to detail
  • Experience managing large, complex budgets
  • Experience using sponsored projects budget management software and MS Office and Google suite of products
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Supervisory experience
  • Five years of accounting and/or post-award or grant management experience
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, specifically sponsored programs administration
  • Experience with large, multi-million dollar grants and federal grants
