Job Summary

The advancement officer is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual fund gifts to support the funding priorities of Lindenwood University.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities

  • Leads, plans and attends events at the president’s residence as well as all functions associated with alumni and advancement
  • Coordinates endowed scholarships with appropriate offices to ensure endowed scholarships are properly awarded and donors are notified of recipients
  • Supports all capital campaign initiatives, including management of naming opportunities process


Service Orientation

  • Contacts alumni and university friends quarterly via mail to encourage donations to the university’s annual fund
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with staff, colleagues, students and the community


Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Prints materials, collects RSVPs, orders gifts and communicates with stakeholders for events


Planning, Organizing and Accountability

  • Coordinates mailings to remind donors and alumni of Lindenwood Legends items for purchase


Initiative, Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Manages the annual fund

  • Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with non-profit fundraising and event coordination

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks
  • Strong professional integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and best practices in gift management
  • Ability to use good judgment and think critically
  • Knowledge of general office software
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
