Applications are invited for appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor / Adjunct Assistant Professor / Part-time hourly-paid Lecturer in the Department of Architecture (Ref. 502618) for the BASc Design+ programme, to commence in Spring 2021 for one semester/academic year, with the possibility of renewal.

The BASc Design+ Programme is a new undergraduate degree launched in 2019 under the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Programme. It is aimed at nurturing highly effective, adaptive and creative graduates who can lead across multiple disciplinary subjects, and who will become known globally for their distinctive qualities of creativity, analytical ability, critical thinking and innovative problem-solving. The Department of Architecture has an international reputation and is ranked amongst the world's best architectural schools. Design thinking is at the core of its values and the Department prides itself on questioning the status quo in an active and dynamic research environment. The young and bright team of scholars and professionals who constitute the teaching staff of the Department and its Division of Landscape represent a diversity of research interests. The scale and breadth of case studies in the region offers a potential portfolio of exciting research projects and a laboratory structure offers opportunities to pool efforts, cross disciplinary boundaries and develop forums for exchange. The Department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an intense and demanding environment where staff members take an active part in shaping the Department’s culture through both teaching and administrative responsibilities. Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline. They should have at least five years of teaching experience at the tertiary level, or equivalent professional work experience. They should also have excellent written and spoken communication skills, the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and the ability to work with external parties. Preference will be given to those holding a Ph.D. degree and/or professional qualifications, with demonstrated excellence in teaching, a track record in research, and experience working within an innovative design practice. Applicants should have a valid permit to work in Hong Kong.

The appointee should be able to conduct teaching at the undergraduate level in the BASc Design+ Programme and possess solid experience in research practices in design and design as a research practice. In addition, he/she may be required to teach lecture courses and/or seminars, in one or more of the following subject areas: communication, technology, and design thinking.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
