The Bhagwan Chandraprabhu Postdoctoral Fellowship in Jain Studies will be awarded to a new or recent Ph.D. with an expertise in Jain Studies (with competency also in other South Asian Dharmic traditions), who will contribute to the intellectual life, cultural fluency, and research excellence of Claremont School of Theology (CST) and the Willamette campus, and who shows significant promise as a scholar and teacher as well as promoter of interest in this religion in the wider community.

 

The Bhagwan Chandraprabhu Postdoctoral Fellow will:

  • be in residence on the Willamette University campus;
  • receive a salary of approximately $40,000 per year;
  • have a two-year appointment, beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year;
  • teach Jain Studies and one other class in South Asian Dharmic traditions at CST

and/or the Religious Studies program of the College of Arts and Sciences (two

classes) in the fall and spring semesters;

  • conduct research in the field of Jainism; and
  • give an annual lecture to share his/her research.

This position is sited full-time in Oregon.
