in Language Testing and Assessment, Centre for English and
Additional Languages

The mission of the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) at Lingnan University, a leading liberal arts institution in Asia, is to enhance the English language skills of Lingnan students and to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies and future careers. The Centre provides compulsory and elective English courses as well as organising a range of co-curricular language activities. CEAL also offers courses in additional languages such as Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French.
The Centre is looking for a specialist in language testing to coordinate both a university-wide English proficiency test and other assessment approaches of the Centre with the purpose of developing outcome-based language assessments which are fully integrated into our curriculum. The appointee will also be required to teach/coordinate a range of English for Academic/Specific Purposes courses offered by the Centre and to perform administrative duties, particularly those related to assessment.
General Requirements
Applicants for the
position should have: (i) a PhD degree in language testing and
assessment or a related area; (ii) at least 3 years’ experience in
teaching English for Academic/Specific Purposes; (iii) expertise
and experience in outcome-based language testing and assessment;
(iv) familiarity with statistical software such as SPSS and a
variety of quantitative analyses; and preferably (v) expertise in
learning analytics and e-learning.
Appointment
The conditions of
appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits
include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory
provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage
allowance for the eligible appointee. For Assistant Professor of
Teaching, appointment will be normally made on a contract of three
years. For Senior Lecturer/Lecturer, appointment will be normally
made on a contract of two years.
