This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track graduate faculty position (75% teaching) at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interest and ability to teach courses in strength and conditioning and other classes dependent on expertise and department needs. Though not required, preference will be given to candidates who can also teach courses in the areas of human anatomy and exercise physiology. Strong preference will be granted to candidates willing to work over the summer months, which includes additional compensation. Anticipated appointment date: August 23, 2021.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Direct and teach the equivalent of 12 credits in the STAC program as assigned (75%).
  • Advise graduate students (5%).
  • Engage in research or other scholarly activity (10%).
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession (10%).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Qualifications Required:

  • Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach desired courses in STAC MS major. (Strength and Cond., Muscle phys., spt. Movement analysis, program design, etc.)
  • Demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activity in strength and conditioning.
  • Experience using technology in the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and mentor graduate students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • NSCA CSCS certification
  • A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience at the college level
  • Potential to teach additional courses (i.e. Human Anatomy and Exercise Physiology)
