Career Management and Employer Engagement at the W. P.
Carey School of Business is seeking a Program Manager, Alumni and
Executive Engagement, to be part of an energetic and collaborative
team.
This position is a cross-over between career coaching with our EMBA
students and all WPC alumni, as well as managing access points for
alumni who want to engage on campus. The Program Manager would
collaborate closely with the student-facing teams, as well as the
Employer Engagement team.
This position is based at ASU’s Tempe Campus. Due to
COVID-19, some staff (as of this posting date) are working
remotely. When safe to do so, staff will return to working on
campus. Training for this position may occur
remotely.
Essential Duties
Reporting to the Executive Director of CMEE, and working
collaboratively with the Director of Alumni Relations, design a
comprehensive program to engage alumni with current students in
support of market access; includes outreach and connection with
in-firm alumni, capturing and maintaining accurate contact
information, and developing access points for students.
Assess current platform (People Grove) and recommend optimal
platform/system to manage alumni contact database.
Provide meaningful opportunities for service, volunteerism, and
professional development for alumni to enhance affinity and W. P.
Carey students’ performance in the employment market place.
Collaborate closely with the Employer Engagement team to liaise
with alumni employers and provide a seamless experience when
engaging with team.
Collaborate with the student facing career management team to
create pathways for alumni to engage with students on campus.
Work in conjunction with the Operations team to coordinate
activities, including panels, mock interviews, and networking
events.
Provide support to the school to develop a deeper base of
alumni engagement that leads to additional philanthropic support,
alumni assistance in key areas including recruiting, hiring, and
career program support.
Creates, organizes and facilitates career seminars, workshops,
and editorial content that aligns with EMBA and alumni needs.
Drive metrics to track alumni engagement across platforms;
report monthly to supervisor.
Works in partnership with students to provide one-on-one and
one-to-many coaching to EMBA students and W. P. Carey alumni in the
areas of career strategy, market research, networking, operational
components of a job search, organizational fit, and other relevant
topics.
Represents the School and/or University on various committees,
organizations, boards, and councils.
Work in conjunction with the entire CMEE team to define annual
planning cycles that include business reviews, on-campus recruiting
and other forms of engagement with our students and the
marketplace. This includes determining relevant
communications channels, trends in student preferences, content
delivery, dates and a tiered communication and strategic planning
process for the delivery of a well-prepared student to the
appropriate employment channels that align with the goals of
pursuing an EMBA.

trends.
40% Coaching and Program Design for alumni and EMBA
Includes career coaching on an on-demand basis with alumni and
EMBA students.
Optimizing W. P. Carey and ASU resources to create relevant
outreach that includes, seminars/workshops/LinkedIn and other
communication channels
30% Administration and management of platform
Source, implement, and manage a WPC-specific database
(currently PeopleGrove) of alumni that have identified themselves
as interested in working to help our students in their career
communications and goals
Collaborate across the organization, including Development, WPC
alumni relations, ASU alumni relations, CPDS and all of CMEE
30% Stewardship of alumni employers
Identify and manage alumni within employer organizations who
want to help prepare, champion or mentor students directly;
includes individual engagement as well as panels, mixers, and other
networking opportunities
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years
administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in
field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years
administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent
combination of experience and/or education from which comparable
knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Evidence of business-to-business client facing, coaching or
people development roles an asset
Experience in career development and/or human resources
recruiting functions
Evidence of a Master's degree in
(business/counseling/human resources/communications) or related
field
Experience or knowledge of higher education or business school
career fields
Relevant experience in employer relations, human resources or
similar experience in a University Relations/Recruiting capacity
outside of higher education or an equivalent combination of
education/experience
Experience in career consulting to individuals in mid-level
through to executive level
Experience in analyzing complex situations accurately and
adopting effective courses of action
Experience with program management/design and development in
fast-paced environments
Experience in building interpersonal business relationships
within and across organization lines
Experience and confidence delivering presentations
Technical experience with Handshake, GradLeaders (or
comparable systems), and familiarity with Zoom, Canvas,
PeopleGrove, etc.
Experience in working autonomously and collaboratively as
part of a team
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication
skills, including influence and persuasion
Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (i.e., Word,
Excel, Access, Outlook, data query, PowerPoint)
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled
office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding
and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for
varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
(10%)
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to
25 pounds (15%)
Regular activities require ability to quickly change
priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of
conflicts
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and
hear to perform essential functions
Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not
limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor,
mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated
computer/technology peripherals
