A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on the Kirksville, Missouri, campus. The position reports to the KCOM Dean. The Associate Dean is responsible for overseeing all academic issues and progress of students (attendance policies, academic integrity, promotion, LOAs), overseeing behavioral issues regarding students (in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Clinical Educational Affairs for years three and four), developing physician career advising program for KCOM for years 1-4, training and working with on-campus and regional faculty to provide career advising to students, overseeing maintenance and updates regarding COCA standards, leading KCOM accreditation activities, overseeing and monitoring student board exam timelines, scores, and remediation processes, and maintaining and updating academic policies and procedures.

Major Job Duties

  1. Responsible for academic and behavioral monitoring of students years 1-4
  2. Monitor and track leave of absences and daily absence requests
  3. Responsible for academic and career advising for students years 1-4
  4. Work with students on academic progression (particularly at-risk students)
  5. Review measures, assessments, and outcomes
  6. Review and remain current on accreditation standards and update and maintain COM's documents related to accreditation
  7. Lead KCOM accreditation team
  8. Lead NRMP match process
  9. Monitor student national board exam processes


Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop, deliver, and train on-campus and regional faculty on student career track development
  2. Monitor accreditation activities and changes
  3. Serve as chair of KCOM accreditation committee
  4. Oversee Student Promotion Board (convene, proceedings, documentation, follow up)
  5. Monitor student academic progression (including courses, board exams, performance assessment testing and clinical assessments)
  6. Oversee student match into residency
  7. Oversee MSPE process in conjunction with the Dean's Office
  8. Oversee NBOME for COMLEX, COMATs, and COMSAEs
  9. Work closely and collaboratively with associate deans of curriculum and clinical affairs for student progress


Requirements

  • PhD, EdD, DO, or MD preferred
  • Experience in academic areas of curriculum, advisement and student promotion
  • Knowledge of COCA accreditation standards and process
  • Knowledge of COMLEX and USMLE licensure exams
  • Knowledge of NRMP match process
  • Must have a solid work ethic
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with students and faculty
