(Non Tenure-Track) Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, Program in Higher Education Leadership

College/School/Unit: College of Education
Department: Educational Leadership and Policy
Posted: Nov 10, 2020
Apply By: Open until filled

Description

The Program in Higher Education Leadership (PHEL) in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a non-tenure-track assistant or associate professor of practice who will also serve as assistant coordinator of PHEL, beginning summer or fall 2021. PHEL is a vibrant, diverse, mutually supportive community of nationally recognized scholar-practitioners within a top-ranked department and college.

We seek a candidate with experience teaching and training higher education practitioners, administrators, and scholars and with some experience coordinating an academic program area. The candidate will teach and advise PHEL graduate students at both the master's and doctoral levels; co-supervise doctoral dissertations and treatises (and serve on committees); participate in program/course planning and development, and provide service to the department as needed.

The appointment would be 50% teaching and 50% administration. As PHEL assistant coordinator, the candidate will work with faculty and staff to coordinate admissions efforts (e.g., outreach, marketing, and recruitment), maintain student and alumni records, plan and coordinate student events and support services, respond to inquiries from various stakeholders, and manage the programmatic budget, among other duties. The position includes a 2-2 teaching load, plus the noted administrative duties, during the academic year. We prefer candidates who are able to teach in the summer as well. UT can offer up to an initial three-year contract for new non-tenure-track faculty, with the possibility of extension.

The University of Texas at Austin is a large public research university with approximately 52,000 students, 3,500 of whom are enrolled in the College of Education. US News & World Report has ranked the UT College of Education among the highest in the nation among public universities for several years running. Our Department offers a Ph.D. in Education Leadership and Policy with an emphasis on higher education research and an Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership. The Department also offers various Master's degrees (e.g., M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership).
