Dean of Student Engagement and Wellness

Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, the Dean of Student Engagement & Wellness is responsible for providing leadership, planning, evaluation and administrative oversight for the following areas: Student Activities at Ocean and Educational Centers, Resource Centers, Student Health and Wellness Services, and Student Conduct & Discipline. This position is responsible for the development and execution of innovative partnerships that increase student access and success.

Job Duties
1. Collaborates with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs Deans to implement and ensure the delivery of quality student activities, Student Health and Wellness, and Student Conduct and Discipline services.

2. In compliance with District guidelines, recommends, implements, and monitors multiple budgets for assigned areas to ensure that the departments/programs remain fiscally sound and operate within their allocated budgets.

3. Provides leadership, direction and evaluates all student activities, and related student clubs. Works with appropriate administrators to facilitate student leadership, provide student activities and Associated Student Governance at the Ocean Campus and Educational Centers.

4. Provides leadership and coordination for the welcome week events at the start of every semester and campus wide student events. Designs and develops the Welcome Center program, prospective students, and their families.

5. Oversees the Associated Students Programs, including the Associated Students' Budget, Book loan Program, and the following Resource Centers: Family Resource Center, Students Supporting Students and the Queer Resource Center.

6. Provides leadership for the Associated Students' Election Commissioner in all activities related to student body campaigns and elections, including the District-wide Student Trustee election at the Ocean Campus and Educational Centers.

7. Provides leadership and direction in resolving operational matters as they arise using judgment.

8. Responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of the student code of conduct to address campus student discipline issues.

9. Responsible for the implementation of the student due process.

10. Maintains an understanding of current ideas, research, technology, and practices pertaining to areas of responsibility through study and participation in professional organizations.

11. Provides leadership with student learning outcomes and program review as they relate to programs and services under areas of responsibility.

12. Prepares annual goals for the programs and services under areas of responsibility. Participates in planning activities and facilitates completion of goals.

13. Develops policy recommendations supporting student learning and success, advocating for their approval through the governance structure, the administrative structure, and the Board of Trustees.

14. In accordance with District policies, contracts, and procedures, supervises and evaluates assigned administrators, department chairs, and classified staff.

15. In accordance with District policies, contracts, and procedures, manages the professional conduct of assigned department chairs, faculty, and classified staff and collaborates with Employee Relations in resolving employee disciplinary matters; where resolution is not reached at the departmental level, serves as the administrative grievance officer in employee discipline processes.

16. Promotes a culture of diversity, equity, access, and student success by fostering innovation and the delivery of high-quality services to our students and community.

17. Serves on District and state-wide committees as assigned, including participating on collegiality on CCSF Participatory Governance committees.

18. Assists with the development and implementation of the annual Commencement activities.

19. Attends Board of Trustee's meetings; makes presentations and submits reports and action items related to areas of responsibility.

20. Responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of the student code of conduct to address campus student discipline issues. Responsible for the implementation of the student due process.

21. Organizes and prioritizes a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manager, organizes own work, sets priorities, and meets critical time deadlines.

22. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).

2. Possession of a Master's degree; AND one year of formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.

Desirable Qualifications
1. Demonstrated experience in an administrative or management position in student affairs with responsibility for personnel, budgets, reporting, and operations.

2. Demonstrated commitment to increased student success through innovative student affair programs and practices appropriate at the community college level.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to California Community College systems, including the California Education Code and Title 5.

4. Experience and knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to the student affairs environment.

5. Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time student services, professional experience at a community college.

6. Demonstrated experience resolving academic and disciplinary issues at a community college including knowledge of current legal practices related to student discipline, student code of conduct, and due process.

7. Experience with data-driven strategic planning and decision making, accreditation, and student learning outcomes.

8. Demonstrated successful experience in first-level administration of faculty, staff, and students.

9. Demonstrated experience with service-learning programs and major event planning.

10. Demonstrated experience collaborating with campus police departments, including disaster preparedness, crisis management, and student safety.

11. Experience in a multi-education center district.

Benefits
Compensation:
Total compensation includes a health insurance plan.

New employees hired on or after January 1, 2014, will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).
